Welcome

A wise man once said that work was like being somewhere when you rather be somewhere else. With those thoughts ringing in our ears we decided to take the plunge, hand in our notices at work and head to Kirkby Stephen for our new life in the Old Croft House.
We moved here on July 13th 2011 and haven’t looked back since. Its been a big change from our old lives in Leamington but we’ve loved the challenge and the opportunity to turn what were previously hobbies into parts of our working day – baking our own bread, making jam, baking cakes and preparing our home cooked evening meals.
Living here has also allowed us to spend time exploring the surrounding area on foot and by bicycle and we’ll be happy to point you in the right direction for one of Nicks (shorter) or Rachels (much much longer) walks.
We’re compiling a blog, “Nick & Rachel’s News” to let you know what we’ve been up to and hopefully to give you some ideas for when you visit us.

I do hope to be able to visit sooner rather than later. The Old Croft House seems so charming and the idea of home baked goods , well – sounds delicious. Of course, I believe I have familial connections, so the search would be interesting.

Congratulations Nick and Rachel on 3 years in The Old Croft House!

Fantastic to see the changes over the years and how you’ve put your own very individual stamp on the house, so beautifully decorated, stylish and very comfortable. It’s been a wonderful place for celebrations- Christmas, New Year, birthdays- all organised by you two with style and panache. Fabulous food and always fresh and beautifully presented. And the puddings…………. words cannot describe- out of this world.

Thank you too for all the stunning walks you’ve organised for us. My abiding memory of the last one was getting up to Nine Standards and then Rachel running off into the distance!

May you have many more happy guests, bike rides, walks and celebrations at the Old Croft House. Cheers!
