Never ever again

and this time we mean it!
Much as we love Helvellyn we (especially scaredy cat Nick) really don’t like the edges! For a change we followed the route up St Sunday Crag from Patterdale along to Fairfield and then down to Grisedale Tarn. From Grisedale Tarn we started the ascent of Dollywaggon Pike slightly in awe of whoever had been given the task of building the steps!

Stopping on Nethermost Pike for a quick lunch whilst watching the tiny ant sized people tackle Striding Edge. Nick decided perhaps it wasn’t as bad as we remembered until I pointed out that the benefit of doing it in the heavy mist had been not been able to see the sheer drop below.

On reaching Helvellyn we headed to Swirral edge for the descent to Red Tarn. If truth be known after the first 5 seconds we would have both turned round if we hadn’t been overtaken by a chiwawa.
